From our supplier, Cafe Imports, we learn more about this fresh crop, 2019 coffee from Fazenda Senhor Niquinho:
“This farm is owned by CarmoCoffees cofounder and fourth-generation coffee producer Luiz Paulo Dias Pereira. This farm was named after Luiz Paulo’s grandfather, and the coffee harvested here is processed on nearby Fazenda Irmas Pereira, which is another of the family’s coffee farms.”
Cafe Imports also is paying (so I guess we are, too, as roasters) a 10 cent per pound premium to benefit the CriaCarmo project (initiated by CarmoCoffees). CriaCarmo provides swimming, karate, chess, and futbol (soccer) lessons as well as other social opps to underprivileged and at-risk kids in the coffee-growing region of Carmo de Minas. More than 230 kids between ages 7 and 17 are helped by this program.
