Coffee notes: heavy bodied to dense, dark tea aromas with notes of cherry, cocoa, and cedar

Description

Curiosity got the best of me with this coffee, so I ordered it. I knew that Vietnam is one of the top three coffee producing countries in the world (joining Brazil and Colombia). I knew, like Brazil, most of the coffee from Vietnam went into blends for mass marketed coffees. Think of the average canned coffee on your supermarket shelf and you’ll know. I did not know that Vietnam had a specialty coffee scene nor that the country grew, harvested, and processed specialty grade coffees–until I purchased, roasted, and tasted this really good coffee!
East Asian coffees tend to be heavier on the palate (Sumatra, Sulawesi, Java are examples). This coffee has the heavy body you’ll see in the others but this coffee is extremely clean, where others can taste overly earthy, almost musty.
This coffee makes an excellent espresso. It has low acidity and produced a shot that has a sweet, full mouthfeel, and has finishing notes of cocoa, cherry, and cedar. As a filter/drip coffee, it has some nutty aromoas to it and is really pleasant. Its finish is really pleasant and clean.
